Inquest into death of teen who died in jump from ferry
THE INQUEST into the death of a Plymouth teenager who jumped from the Torpoint ferry on New Year's Eve will be heard later this month.
Jordan Cobb, aged 16, leapt from the ferry travelling from Devonport to Torpoint last year. Following a huge search operation involving police, the Ministry of Defence Police's Marine Unit, Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team, Coastguard, Devon and Cornwall Police divers, the force helicopter, the RNLI and volunteers, his body was recovered on January 16 this year.
The inquest was initially opened and adjourned in January and noted how Jordan was found with headphones in his ears and still attached to his HTC mobile phone, and was wearing a pair of new trainers.
Coroner Andrew Cox recorded drowning as the provisional cause of death following a post-mortem examination.

The former Stoke Damerel College student was identified from his distinctive tattoos.
The inquest heard that after jumping from the ferry, Jordan was briefly seen to re-surface about 70 metres from the Torpoint side of the river before disappearing from view.
At the time of his death it was suggested to police Jordan may have jumped from the ferry following a £100 bet although this has never been confirmed.
The inquest will be held in the Marlborough Room at the Council House on the morning of October 25.
