Will James Bond's Skyfall finally bring Oscar joy for Torquay's Roger Deakins?
TORQUAY cameraman Roger Deakins will find out on Sunday if it will be 10th time lucky for him at the Oscars.
He has received his 10th Academy Award nomination for best cinematography on the James Bond film Skyfall.
Mr Deakins, who is an old boy of Torquay Boys Grammar School and has a home in Kingswear, was also nominated for a BAFTA award for Skyfall recently.
That award went to Claudio Miranda for Life of Pi.

He has a little way to go before he equals director Federico Fellini’s record of 12 nominations without winning.
The 85th Academy Awards presentations take place on Sunday night at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Mr Deakins, whose career has seen him win 65 major film awards including BAFTAs and British Film Awards, is up against Claudio Miranda again at the Oscars.
Other cinematography nominees are Seamus McGarvey (Anna Karenina); Robert Richardson (Django Unchained) and Janusz Kamiknski (Lincoln).

“Good luck Roger, but an irony if he wins the Oscar for an ubiquitous Bond film!”

“the only person who could play James Bond was Sean Connery.”
