Jamie Overton was due to go to South Africa for a training camp with the Pepp next week.
He will join the rest of the England under-19 group for the five-match one-day international series against South Africa, starting on Wednesday, February 13.
The countries will first meet in a two-match Test series, beginning in Cape Town on Sunday.
England lost their first warm-up match, against a Western Cape Invitation XI, by seven wickets on Wednesday.
Craig Overton will leave with the Lions squad for Australia on Tuesday night ahead of their eight-match trip, which features five one-day internationals against Australia.
