John Sheridan: 'I could have killed David Friio in Plymouth Argyle clash'
NEW Argyle manager John Sheridan has admitted he 'could have killed' former Pilgrims' favourite David Friio after the pair clashed during a game in November 2003.
Sheridan was playing for Oldham Athletic against Argyle at Home Park when he was sent-off for headbutting Friio after a crude tackle from the French midfielder.
Nine years later, and now the Pilgrims' boss, Sheridan said: "He (Friio) nearly broke my leg. It was a terrible tackle from him.
"It was just one of those things. He was a good player and I was a bit at the end of my career.

"I met him when we played them (Argyle) at Boundary Park later in the season and we shook hands.
"There was no problem, but I could have killed him at the time."
Friio retains a presence at Home Park, with a picture of the midfielder in the club reception and a mural of him at the Devonport End.
Sheridan said: "He was a good player and they were a good team so I expect to see one or two (pictures)."
