Kate is a ray of light
IT was disappointing to read the letter from Justin Kerswell of Viva! (March 23) condemning Kate Humble and her programme Lambing Live because it did not support his views on meat consumption.
Kate must be one of the best presenters on TV today; her programmes are a ray of light in a dismal array of insipid sitcoms, soaps, political hubris and other sundry drivel.

Kate Humble – brings viewers the wonder of nature and the countryside
She brings the wonder of nature and the countryside into the homes of thousands not in a position to see such things.
If Mr Kerswell believes the BBC should investigate the alleged immorality of eating meat, I am sure he is capable of asking. But he might bear in mind that humans have been hunter gatherers from the dawn of civilisation, and from a Christian standpoint the Bible states clearly that animals were created to provide for man.
And does he think of the consequences of man ceasing to eat meat? What would happen to the redundant livestock and the countryside they have created? What about those people who survive wholly on animals? Maybe the answers would all emerge on the small screen if got his slot.
In the meantime, Viva! Kate Humble!

“:| "Kate is a ray of light". . Here, here! . on all points! . 'Lambing Live' was a true 'window on the world', and it shed some much needed light on to the joys, fears and difficulties of hard working farmers and country folk. . And it demonstrated clearly, how we all do it for love of our animals and the life it allows us; and certainly not for money.”
