SATURDAY'S match between Kettering Town and Bideford has been called off – because the electricity at the home side's Nene Park ground has been cut off.

Kettering would have been unlikely to fulfil the Evo-Stik League Southern fixture in any case as they are reported to have only seven players available.

A statement from the Southern League said: "The League has been informed by Kettering Town that due to a dispute with their energy supplier there will be no electricity at the ground to be able to stage their fixture on Saturday, therefore there is no alternative other than to accept that the match is postponed."

Kettering's financial crisis has put them on the brink of being wound up.

With the current squad not being paid, the League has enforced a transfer embargo, which means no new players can be signed to boost their dwindling numbers.

Kettering could field only ten players in Saturday's premier division match against Bashley.

Their Tuesday-night game against Leamington was postponed because of a lack of players and the power being cut following unpaid bills.

The club had hoped to hire a generator for Saturday's game against Bideford but that will not now happen.

Bideford's next match will now be Tuesday's trip to Bridgwater Town in the Southern League's Red Insure Cup.
