Land slide at Saunton Sands
A CLIFF land slide at Saunton Sands occured metres from the iconic Saunton Sands Hotel in the early hours of Thursday morning.
A large section of the cliff fell onto the beach and has left a scar in the cliff face below the hotel.
The coastguard and police have both been informed and confirmed no one was injured.
Christie Estates, who own the beach, said they are in the process of fencing off the area for safety reasons.

Saunton Sands Hotel said they were unaware of the land slide as did North Devon Council.
Trevor Lumley, who is chairman of surf website Eyeball, went to the beach after the incident.
He said: "It is quite significant and it is quite close to the hotel. I think a second one happened further down the cliff too.
"I think what must have happened is that the frost last night meant the ground was even heavier with the ground being so sodden at the moment."
