Land train on fast track after council loan
Plans for the first land train in North Devon are now well on track after councillors approved a loan scheme.
An Italian Dotto trackless train, similar to those operating in Torquay and Bournemouth, is hoped to be soon carrying passengers around Ilfracombe.
After winning European Union funding of £163,000, North Devon Council has agreed to pay for the train now and have it ready by November, claiming the money back next year.
As well as an added tourist attraction, it will improve transport around the resort and is expected to take in the swimming pool, harbour, seafront and High Street.

The council's development spokesman in the town, councillor Mike Edmunds, said the project was "superb news".
"This is the latest in a number of projects that we hope are going to really boost the visitor experience in Ilfracombe," he added.
