FATHER-and-son landscapers Mike and Ian Wade are celebrating after their firm won in four categories at a regional awards ceremony.

Plympton-based Mian Landscaping Services triumphed at the Exeter event run by Marshalls' register of approved landscape contractors and driveway installers.

And the awards have been dedicated to Mike's wife, and Ian's mother, Caroline Wade, who sadly died of cancer last year.

"It's very sad to think that she is not here to see these awards as she was very much a part of Mian and would have been thrilled with our achievement," said Ian.

Mian scooped the honours for best driveway transformation under 70sqm, best driveway transformation over 70sqm, best patio transformation over 35sqm and best engineering achievement.

Two of the awards were the result of one job at a house in Penlee Way, Stoke.

Ian Wade, who runs the firm with his father, said: "To scoop four out of seven regional awards is fantastic, almost embarrassing.

"And there is a chance we can now make it to the national finals and go to a big ceremony in London."

It is not the first time Mian has won a Marshalls award. Last year it was named the regional winner for the best driveway transformation over 70sqm, for a project in Plympton. And in 2010, Mian won the Marshalls regional award for best project by a new registered installer, for designing and installing a rear garden project using Indian sandstone walling and paving.

Mian was set up in 2005 and specialises in 3D design and construction of outside spaces including patios, decking, designer driveways, fencing, walling, contemporary outside buildings, artificial turf, and bespoke makeovers.

It became a Marshalls registered installer in 2009, which means it has to abide by the landscape products company's stringent code of practice and standards of workmanship.

"We have built an extensive portfolio and customer base in and around Plymouth area," said Ian.

“I had a small amount of work done by these guys a couple of years ago. They did a great job so it's nice to see things are going well for them. Congratulations!”
