Large stash of cannabis found in layby near Barnstaple
A LARGE stash of cannabis plants has been discovered in a layby near Barnstaple.
Police were called about the discarded drug last night by a member of the public and were told it was in a layby on Acland Road in Landkey.

But when PCSO Daniel Rolfe went to the scene this afternoon he discovered it was simply a pile of stalks.
He said: "When it is just stalks we can't take it any further as we can't get any leads on who is might belong to and it has no actual value.

PCSO Rolfe confirmed in that situation all the police can do is dispose of the plants' stalks after bagging them up and removing them from the scene.
