Late goals prove crucial as Argyle Ladies take over the top spot
SOUTH WEST COMBINATION Shanklin...2 Argyle Ladies...4
TWO late goals moved Argyle Ladies to the top of the table on goal difference, despite squandering a 2-0 half-time lead on the Isle of Wight.
Chloe Bassett opened the scoring for Argyle on 15 minutes when her lofted shot from the right wing slipped through the keeper's grasp as she tried to catch the ball under the crossbar.
Six minutes later Emily Mousley made it two with a simple headed goal at the far post from Becca Rose's corner.
Shanklin hit back after the break and had levelled the scores by the 70th minute.
But urged on by captain Katie Middleton, Argyle retook the lead when Laura Perrett headed home from close range in the 85th minute.
And the points were secured two minutes from time when Rose converted from the penalty spot after Rachel Javan had been tripped as she bore down on goal.
HAYLEY RANACHAN scored six as Plymstock put a dozen goals without reply past Torpoint.
Remarkably, it took Plymstock 20 minutes to break the deadlock when Ranachan fired home from eight yards.
Catherine Davis increased the lead soon after when she burst through and slotted the ball past the keeper.
The hosts went further ahead when a right-wing cross from Alice Gullick found Davis at the far post and she volleyed home from 10 yards.
Ranachan then scored a good solo goal, firing home from 20 yards, and completed her hat-trick when she latched on to a through ball by Clare Thomas and put her shot into the corner of the net.
And Ranachan got her fourth from a corner to make it 6-0 at half-time.
Plymstock increased their lead five minutes into the second half when Ranachan got her fifth with a shot from just outside the penalty area which squirmed through the hands of the keeper.
Ranachan then completed her double hat-trick before Thomas put a delightful shot over the keeper and into the roof of the net.
Megan Platt scored a screamer from 30 yards and Emilie Palmer made it 11.
Plymstock got their 12th and final goal when Alice Gullick beat the keeper at the near post.

MARINE took the points after a positive performance in which they scored three and hit the frame of the goal four times.
Elizabeth Stanley opened the scoring with a neat finish at the near post following a low cross from Chelsea Easton.
MAP didn't add their second until after the break. Winger Danii Moody's pass split the defence for midfielder Sam Drewery to run on to the ball and slot past the keeper.
The third and final goal came when full-back Michelle Elliot released Drewery to score her second.
