Left devastated with no job after pub shock
A FORMER manager of an inn near Bideford has been left devastated after being told she had lost her job with no notice after the business went into administration.
Lynette Higgins ) had worked at The Hoops Inn, at Horns Cross, for 17 years. But last month that came to an end without warning, leaving her no time to even say goodbye to her colleagues.

The Hoops went into administration on January 21. A buyer for the premises is currently being sought, while the inn is open for business as normal.
But Lynette, the former senior duty manager, from Torrington, is 61 and is doubtful she will be able to find another job.

She said: "I can understand they needed to make redundancies as a result of the business going into administration, but it was just so sudden. I finished work at 5pm and was told there and then that I was not coming back. After 17 years it is really hard because I couldn't say goodbye to the people I worked with or the regular customers.
"I had trained some of the staff, so I had a lot of connections with them."
She said she didn't know the state of the finances.
"We are always a bit quieter in the winter and we have lost of lot of the shoot parties we used to have, but there were no other signs," she said.
Administrators Duff and Phelps said there were 20 staff employed at The Hoops Inn but one resigned and a further five redundancies were made.
In a statement the administrators said: "By making these redundancies, we believe that this will assist the preservation of the remaining employee positions within the company, together with maximising value to the general body of the company's creditors in the administration."

“Perhaps they simply wanted some "young blood", and this was one way to do it!”
