DAWN is breaking and what's that sound I hear?

Is it the dawn chorus of birds? No, it's the sound of grumpy Torbay residents prising themselves from their warm and comfy beds in all sorts of weather and every season of the year at 5.45am to stagger up, or down, their steps to the pavement to put out their bins by 6am. Why?

Or shall we hear the gentle sounds of yelping and "ouch" from those same residents walking home in the dark tripping over the bins already put out the night before? Please don't tell me that the bin lorries will be coming up our streets at 6.05am.

I sincerely hope that 8am will be the earliest that any of them appear.

Certainly no one in this house will be getting up early to put the bins out at 6am or, for that matter — 6pm to 8am or thereabouts will be plenty early enough.

On a more serious note, I have yet to read or hear of what is to be done with all this careful recycling we residents are being asked to do.

Where will it all be going? It will be a bit of a waste of all our efforts if it is transported up country for recycling at vast expense per tonne, including the fuel needed to get it there.

Perhaps someone from the council or Tor2 will kindly tell us just where all this recycling is going to.
