Long detour after deep flood collapse in road
MOTORISTS were forced to take a 23-mile diversion after a section of road collapsed into floodwater in North Devon last week.
The unsafe B3226 was closed in both directions between the Parklands junction in South Molton and the A377 junction near Elstone.
Police said there had been a "very deep" collapse in the George Nympton area. Police and council highways crews closed the road after a member of the public contacted the emergency services on New Year's Day. Diversions were set up via Witheridge.
