TWO pupils at Stratton Primary School, near Bude, are making strides in tennis.

Louis Davey, 8, and Samuel Jennings, 9, practice for six hours a weeks as well as playing in competitions.

Louis, who is coached at the Tarka Tennis Centre in Barnstaple, has already won the national under-8s Powder Byrne Trophy.

Samuel, who trains in Bude and Bodmin, won two tournaments in Bristol last year and has been selected for the Cornwall under-10 squad.

Both are supported by the Budehaven Community School Junior Athlete Education Programme. Phil Aldis, the head teacher at Stratton, said: "We are very proud of both Samuel and Louis and their achievements. They not only play to a very high standard but both obviously really enjoy their tennis."
