MK downcast following vote disappointment
Mebyon Kernow has admitted their performance in the general election was disappointing after failing to secure a significant increase in votes.
The Cornish nationalists secured fewer than 5,400 votes across the six seats in the county.
Party leader Dick Cole won 2,000 of them in St Austell and Newquay alone.
Loveday Jenkin, who won 775 votes in Camborne and Redruth, said: "We are proud to have fought a positive campaign across the whole of Cornwall.

"And though we are disappointed that we did not win more votes, we believe that our result is very credible especially as this election was dominated by the leaders' debates and coverage of the main political parties."
MK were denied a party election broadcast, and candidates were "not allowed to participate in constituency reports on local TV" Ms Jenkin said.
"As a consequence, we suffered a massive squeeze by the main parties," she added.
"Party members throughout Cornwall found considerable goodwill for MK on the doorstep and support for our policies – such as fair funding for Cornwall."
