Is MP really taking notice?

WITH reference to the letter submitted by Kevin Wilson regarding the grandstanding of our MP Neil Parish, I too wonder what our representative in Parliament is actually doing for his constituents — and indeed what any Tory MP is doing for their constituents.

I am deeply concerned about Cameron's promise to the Countryside Alliance that he will repeal the Hunting Act, because I am, together with all my friends and colleagues, horrified at the return of the barbaric practices of stag, fox and hare hunting, and the equally cruel blood sport of hare coursing in which two greyhounds or lurchers use one of our most beautiful wild animals, the hare, as a tug-of-war rope.

In respect of my fear of these appalling 'fun' pastimes returning I wrote to our representative MP outlining my deep concern, and in return, several weeks later, I received an email from his parliamentary researcher.

This was not addressed to me, but some completely unknown person, and in addition the email was identical to other letters and emails sent out to all my other friends and colleagues.

After enquiring of other friends in other parts of the country who share my fears, I have discovered that quite a large number of them have also received identical replies.

What became blatantly obvious was the fact that this so-called reply to concerned constituents was nothing more than a bog standard screed issued by Central Office on the instruction of their leader to be sent out to anyone concerned about repeal of the Hunting Act.

Apart from the obvious white-washing of the concerns of up to 85 per cent of the electorate, the so-called free vote is a clear deception.

It would appear our representative, Neil Parish, has no interest in the concerns of his constituents, nor does his leader David Cameron.

So much for a free vote, democracy and representation in Parliament. Utter tosh.

“Yes, of course MPs are taking notice,Nell! Problem is that they realise that the Hunting Act has been a backward step for animal welfare. Pests such as foxes are being killed by much crueller methods than hunting, which is clearly the most natural and humane of all, given that a wounded animal doesn't escape. Lets have a bit of real concern for wildlife from you anti-hunters - recognise that hunting is good for conservation and work with hunting people to get this prejudiced and shabby law - the Hunting Act 2004 - overturned and consigned to history. You KNOW it makes sense!”
