MP has no right to wear Marine tie
I WAS very surprised and angered to see Plymouth MP Oliver Colvile on television sporting a Royal Marine tie.
To the best of my knowledge Mr Colvile has not seen any military service with the Corps or in fact any part of the Armed Forces. Those who wear the tie, do so because they have earned it and know exactly what each colour stands for.
If you have not served with the Royal Marines you should not wear it and, in fact, have no right to wear the tie.

“He had an Uncle that was in the Royal Marines and a father that served in the Royal Navy, apart from that, thats the only service contact he has.
I also was a Royal Marine with thirty years service and am always proud of wearing my Corps Tie. I also agree with what "Raglanron1" said in the first reply.

“Well Jim I did not see the tv program so I cannot comment entirely. But I can say as an ex-Royal myself a couple of positives about this MP and the Royal Marines. He is a member of the defence committee in the H of C, and he has a special role as the spokesperson for the Royal Marines. I also know there is some kind of Royal Marine parliamentary tie which he does sometimes wear.
I agree with you that the 'pure' Corp tie is only for those of us that have earned it through going through all the training at Lympstone, to the ultimatel prize of the 'green beret'!”
