Man accused of cosh, knife and syringe threat crimes
A MAN was to appear before magistrates today to face a string of charges including an armed robbery with a cosh and an attempted robbery where he is alleged to have threatened a shopkeeper with a syringe.
Damian Janes, aged 32, was arrested by police late on Friday night following the alleged incidents which began on the evening of December 4.

He is accused of going to an address in Mutley on that same night and committing two common assaults on a couple in their own home.
He has been charged with stealing a knife from the premises before he went to the Spar store in West Hoe Road on December 5 where he is alleged to have threatened staff with a cosh and ordered them to put money and cigarettes into a Sainsbury's 'bag for life'.

He will also appear before magistrates accused of entering a convenience store in North Hill on December 7 where he is alleged to have threatened the shopkeeper with a syringe and demanded cash from the till.
Janes, of no fixed abode, was arrested by police at around 11.45pm on Friday and was charged by the Crown Prosecution Service on Saturday night.
He will appear before magistrates at Plymouth Magistrates Court today.
