Man arrested in pensioner murder probe
Police have arrested a man in the investigation into the murder of a Plymouth pensioner.
At around 7am yesterday, a 52-year-old man from the Devonport area of the city was arrested on suspicion of murder. He is now in police custody in Launceston, where he is being interviewed by detectives.
Detective Superintendent Paul Burgan, leading the investigation said: "While this is a significant development in the investigation, I want to be clear that there are still a number of lines of enquiry to be completed and this investigation is very much ongoing. I would still like to appeal to local people to come forward if they have any information, no matter how insignificant they think it might be."
Michael Brincat, 76, known locally as 'Maltese Mike', was found dead at his Devonport flat last Wednesday at just after midday.

Police said he had last been seen alive at his home, on the second floor of Marlborough House on Granby Way, at around 10.15am on Tuesday.
A post-mortem examination carried out on Monday raised the possibility of foul play and police first announced his death was "suspicious" a short while later.
