Man charged with murder after death of pensioner in Sidmouth pub
A man from Sidmouth appeared before Exeter Magistrates today charged with the murder of a pensioner in the town.
Nicholas Jameson, 41, was charged with the murder of Brian Kemp, 71, from Nottingham.
His mother was in court for the brief appearance.
Police were called shortly after 10pm on Thursday night to the Black Horse Hotel in Sidmouth after reports that an elderly man had allegedly been assaulted.
They arrived to find customers battling to save a 71-year-old man who was suffering from suspected stab wounds.
Paramedics tried to resuscitate him but the man was pronounced dead a short while later.
Jameson was remanded in custody to appear before Exeter Crown Court.
