Man treated for severe burns after Chudleigh fire

ONE person has been treated for severe burns after a barn fire at Ideford near Chudleigh this morning.

The alarm was raised at 4.20am at Towns End.

Two crews from Newton Abbot fire station, one from Teignmouth and the water bowser from Torquay attended the scene.

A fourth pump from Teignmouth and an incident support vehicle from Totnes were also sent.

Crews used one main jet and two hose reel jets in attempts to extinguish the fire which spread to a mobile home, a range of outbuildings and vehicles.

Police were also on the scene.

The man suffering burns was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

Investigations were under way into the cause of the blaze.
