Manufacturer invests £850k in machinery
An award-winning business with a manufacturing base in Plymouth has invested £850,000 in a machine that it says is the only one of its type in the UK.
Newnham Industrial Estate-based Dura, which won the Queen's Award for Enterprise earlier this year, makes modular steel cabinets and storage systems.
The company prides itself on having brought interior design to domestic garages, workshops and the automotive industry with a client list that includes Aston Martin, Audi and Rolls-Royce.
It has now invested in a Salvagnini metal-bending machine, that takes flat sheets of metal in at one end and turns out finished products, including panels and drawers, at the other.

Dura managing director Dominic Wishlade said the investment was a vote of confidence in the Plymouth site, which employs 36 people.
"Living in Oxford, I have to make a 400-mile round trip to the factory on the Newnham Industrial Estate every week or two, but it never occurred to me for a second to move the factory or install the machine elsewhere," he said.
"That's because we have a very experienced and committed workforce here in Plymouth – a workforce that's more than doubled since Dura took over the premises four years ago."
