Milestone event at hotel raises cash for charity
THE owners of one of Torquay's largest family-run hotels have celebrated 20 years at the business.
The Blagden and Ryder families bought the Cavendish Hotel in 1992 and organised a gala black tie night to commemorate the occasion.

Family and friends from all over the country joined guests, suppliers and staff in a wonderful evening that included a fireworks display, buffet, live entertainment from Bruce Stuckey and a disco.
Ernie Blagden said: "We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along. We certainly had a great time."

The evening also featured an auction of lots donated by local businesses, suppliers and attractions and a raffle. In total, £950 was raised for the Cavendish Hotel's nominated charity, the Children's Hospice South West.
Ernie said: "We are constantly refurbishing the hotel and over the last few years have completely redecorated the ballroom, the bar and even built a fabulous decking area which overlooks our gardens. The Cavendish has a long and rich history and we are very proud to be a part of it."
