Mistakes hit Rangers hard in two defeats
CULLOMPTON Rangers were left to their failings at both ends of the pitch after they suffered a second consecutive defeat on Saturday.
Pete Buckingham's team had started the South West Peninsula League Premier Division season in impressive form. But they went down 5-3 at home to Elburton Villa on Tuesday, before losing 4-2 to Launceston at Speeds Meadow on Saturday.
Buckingham had hit out at his team's inability to stop the oppisition scoring, while also criticising his forwards for not putting away their chances, on Tuesday.
And, although he missed Saturday's match, his team was guilty of making the same mistakes again.
"Two home games in the space of a week and we've scored five goals but got no points," assistant John Harkness said.
"Individual errors are costing us. If we can cut them out we will be okay. Going forward we are missing chances as well — it's not all the defenders to blame.
"But we've got a young squad and it's still early. We are a work in progress at the moment.
"We've got to sort out those errors, but we will get there."
Cullompton take a break from league action this week as they go to Mid Devon rivals Crediton United for an FA Vase extra preliminary round clash on Friday night (7.30).
Witheridge are at Western League side Brislington in the same competition on Saturday, when they will hope to bounce back from a 1-0 league defeat by Royal Marines at the weekend.
