Lakeside Eventing, the brainchild of Town and Country Supplies proprietors Simon and Kirsty Kerslake, opens its doors for its first event on Saturday, September 25, for the Lamerton Branch of the Pony Club's One Day Event.

Held amidst the stunning scenery of Higher Grinacombe Farm, Lifton, the 150 acres of land above Roadford Lake will set the scene for five classes ranging from 1ft3 to 2ft6. Assisted, Unassisted, Pony Club only and Open classes will run over the day, with an emphasis on safety and fun. The unassisted mini classes will see the dressage take place in the safety of the fully fenced outdoor all weather arena and the showjumping will be in a securely fenced paddock.

"Moving out onto the cross country riders can feel the thrill of the big event by riding the fully roped and dressed cross country fences with all the grandeur of a mini Badminton Horse Trials," says Kirsty Kerslake of the course.

"Every fence is locally sponsored – companies have really taken on board the scale of the event. We have wood carvings and show cars as dressings, which will really give it the wow factor."

Competitors will not go home empty handed – winners will receive shields, with prizes and rosettes to sixth place. Rosettes will also be awarded for the best placed Lamerton Hunt PC member and the best dressage score in each class.

Helen Harris, DC of the Lamerton Hunt Pony Club, said: "I think the course will be a wonderful opportunity for our novice members to have an exciting experience of eventing over a new course. Our members start their practice for eventing at junior camps from the age of five. What they can achieve is amazing and we aim to build on their experiences."

Lakeside Eventing are aiming to run a Hunter Trial in October 2010 and for 2011 there will be Hunter Trials, One Day Events and a host of other Pony Club events, with the long-term aim of becoming eligible to host a British Eventing date.
