New supermarket destined for Cullompton
DISCOUNT grocery chain Aldi will open a store in Cullompton, creating new jobs for the town.
The company is believed to be moving in to the site formerly occupied by Co-op, on Exeter Road, which closed in August 2010.
Full details over the total number of jobs the store is expected to create have not yet been released, but management positions have been advertised.
A spokesperson for the firm said: "Whichever reasonably-sized town we don't have a store in, you can be sure we are actively looking for a site there."

The German chain boasts of offering low cost, day-to-day items which are bought in volume from "the same, hand-picked suppliers" and are therefore able to negotiate substantial discounts.
The spokesman added: "Many high street supermarkets spend huge sums of money on fancy displays and gimmicks in order to persuade people to buy. We don't; our store layouts are simple so customers can find what they need."
