Newton Abbot school's inspection success
A NEWTON ABBOT primary school is celebrating after being rated 'good' for the first time by Ofsted inspectors.
All aspects of the work at Haytor View school, which was created following the merger of Milber Infant and Junior schools, was good or better.

Since the merge, headteacher Katy Liley has led big improvements in the school's academic achievements and this year won major investment for school building.
"We are delighted," she said. "This is not the end of the journey though. We are determined to be judged an outstanding school when the inspectors return."

Ofsted praised pupils' good achievement, their eagerness to come to school and their kindly and considerate relationships with one another.
The school's 'good' ratings for achievement, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils and leadership and management are even more marked because they come at a time when inspectors have been getting tougher.
Two inspectors from Ofsted spent two days at Haytor View earlier this month and their report has just been published.
Lead inspector Alex Baxter says children typically start school with skills that are well below those expected for their age.
But, by the time they leave in year six, the school has 'added value' to their education so that they are achieving national standards.
"An increasing number of pupils exceed national expectations for progress," he said.
"Teaching is typically good across the school. Staff celebrate pupils' achievements, value their contributions and encourage pupils to share and refine ideas."
The governance of the school is good and the county council has contributed well to the school's continued improvement.
To continue its good improvement, the inspectors say Haytor View should further improve literacy and numeracy in reception and Key Stage 1.
