Nick Evans kick puts Torrington into Devon Junior Cup quarter-finals
TORRINGTON became the first team to beat Old Technicians this season to earn a place in the Devon Junior Cup quarter-finals.
Adrian Avery's try and a penalty from Nick Evans saw the home side clinch an 8-7 win over the Tribute Devon Two leaders at Donnacroft.
Torrington will meet Tamar Saracens or Buckfastleigh Ramblers, whose match was postponed, in the last eight.
Old Technicians took the lead against their Devon One opponents with a try by wing Tom James, converted by Billy Evans.

Avery, the Torrington hooker and captain, was driven over from close range for only his second try since February 2009.
Evans then nudged them ahead but there was still some defending to do in the last five minutes as Old Techs camped on the five-metre line.
Avery said: "It was a proper cup match, quite tight and physical.
"We knew they would be a strong side, being unbeaten this season, and it was a good test for us.
"We dominated for long spells and I was quite confident we would win the game. We made a little bit hard work of it but we deserved to win."
Lock Rob Ovenell was named Torrington's man of the match.
South Molton were handed a walkover against Plympton Victoria who could not fulfil their Junior Cup tie.
Ilfracombe's match against Devonport High School Old Boys was postponed because their opponents' rearranged league game against North Tawton took precedence.
Bude are back in the semi-finals of the Tribute Cornwall Cup.
A late penalty from Dan Pearce completed a comeback from 10-0 down to beat Penryn 15-13 and book a place in the last four for the fourth time in five seasons.
Bude had lost 27-12 in an away league match against the same opponents a week earlier. For almost 50 minutes, it seemed they would suffer the same fate on their own ground.
Penryn led through ten points from fly half Jake Seviour – a try, conversion and penalty.
A speculative dart up the left wing by Kyle Speare sparked Bude's fightback as he touched down the first try.
Jason Bolt, the prop, then went over from close range, with Pearce kicking the conversion to put his side in front.
Seviour swung the match back in Penryn's favour with another penalty, only for Pearce, the fly half, to hold his nerve with a 79th-minute kick to win the game for Bude.
