Olympic medal winners to have gold postboxes in Plymouth
OLYMPIC heroes will be honoured with their very own postboxes to celebrate the medals they bought home to Plymouth.
Plymouth Argyle FC honoured Ruta Meilutyte, who sensationally won the women's 100m breaststroke gold for Lithuania at the age of 15, and Tom Daley, who won bronze for the men's individual 10m platform diving event, by purchasing two scrapped post boxes which they will refurbish to be used for fan mail.
Now they've arrived and will be painted gold – for Ruta, and bronze – for Tom.
Plymouth Argyle owner, James Brent, made the move after Ruta was denied her own postbox because she's originally from Lithuania. Royal Mail had honoured all gold winners a gold-painted box.

Tom Daley said: "It's not every day someone tells you you're getting your own postbox. It's a lovely gesture and Ruta fully deserved her own. It's great to think Plymouth is thinking of bronze medallists too."
