Orton and Yetton take the honours in Tavy 7
ROB ORTON took pride of place as winner of this year's Tavy 7 road race which once again attracted a strong field of athletes to the early autumn moorlands tester.
Unattached runner Orton broke the tape in 39 minutes and 55 seconds beating off the challenge of closest rivals Ben Neale and James Best.
Bere Alston Trekker Neale completed the seven-mile scenic limb stretcher just under a minute behind Orton, clocking 40.39, while Best of the host club, Tavistock AC, came home in 42.04.
There were excellent performances, too, from the event's lady runners, with Ami Yetton taking the plaudits of being first female finisher.

The Plymouth Harrier's time of 44.12 gave Yetton seventh position overall, two places ahead of the second-placed female – Tamar Trotter's GB international veteran – Anne Luke (44.46).
Ruth Jones of Erme Valley Harriers was third fastest lady in 47.06 and 26th overall from the field of 353 runners.
In addition to the main event there was a one-and-half-mile fun run which was won by Tavistock AC 12-year-old Harry Herdman who broke the tape in 9.16.
For the first time, the fun run included a schools tournament which saw Kelly College Prep take the team prize ahead of Tavistock Primary and Whitchurch Primary.
Tavistock AC official and proud dad of young Harry, Allan Herdman, said the warm weather made for an enjoyable and competitive race.
He said: "It was a terrific spectacle, deceptively tough, of course, despite the beautiful scenery.
"We were slightly down on numbers this year, but the Tavy 7, which has been up and running for the best part of three decades, is clearly still very popular with the region's distance runners."
