Devon County Council is asking road users to be alert to the maintenance, and is warning of potential delays.
Councillor Stuart Hughes , said "It's normal that road surfaces get a build-up of tyre rubber and other material over time, and therefore it's important to monitor them and carry out maintenance as required to keep them in a safe condition.
"This work will improve the road's resistance to skidding and will therefore benefit the safety of all road users."
