PHOTO: Jack-knifed highways lorry spills 30 tonnes of gravel on A361 link road
AN OVERTURNED HGV caused the North Devon Link road to close for more than four hours yesterday evening.
The vehicle, which was carrying a Rigid Tipper weighing 30 tonnes and fully laden with gravel chippings, overturned at around 5pm during rush hour traffic just before the West Buckland turning.
The low loader is believed to have jack-knifed across the carriageway, causing it to overturn, losing the Rigid Tipper and its contents in the process.
Police and ambulance services were called to the scene, but no other vehicles were involved and no one was injured in the incident.
