A DEMENTIA patient has been recognised by the Prime Minister for his campaign work.

David Cameron wrote to Norms McNamara (pictured), founder of the Torbay Dementia Action Alliance, after meeting him along with ministers to launch the Dementia Challenge, the Government initiative to improve dementia care in the UK.

Mr McNamara said: "It is wonderful to be recognised but it is about the support the people of Torbay have given us."

The aim is for Torbay to become the first 'dementia friendly area in the world'.
