Peard and Cronin star as Pirates plunder win
BASKETBALL: Central Park Pirates continued their fine run of form, beating Liskeard 83-53 to pick up their seventh win of the season.
After tying the first half 24-24, Pirates were dominant in the third quarter, taking it 29-13 to put the game beyond Liskeard's reach.
Matt Peard and Marcus Cronin combined for 21 of 29 of Pirates' points in the period.
Pirates were led by Peard and Cronin who scored 25 points apiece. Cronin picked up most valuable player (MVP) honours.
Liskeard were led by Sam Landrigan with 14 points.
Pirates move up to third, while Liskeard are off the bottom and into ninth spot.
Bandits continue their dominance at the top of the table, defeating a tough Callington team 69-52.
Bandits came out strongly, taking the first two quarters 20-12 and 20-15, respectively.
The 13-point deficit was too much for Callington to come back from, and Bandits increased their current winning streak to 10 games.
Bandits were led by MVP Jon Iji with 15 points. Phil Collings led Callington with 17 points. Callington stay second.
Blindology Blinds picked up a big win, beating CF Avengers 65-52.
Blinds took a nine point lead into the fourth quarter and iced the game from the free-throw line. Blinds scored their last 12 points from the line.
Artur Tymko led Blinds with 17 points and Andy Campbell picked up MVP honours with 16 points. Blinds stay eighth, while Avengers move up to fifth.
