Pedestrian hurt in collision with bus in Royal Parade, Plymouth

A man has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a bus in Royal Parade.

Witnesses say two men were trying to cross the busy city centre route when they were in collision with a bus just after 1pm today.

Reports say the man was knocked down, although he is not believed to have been seriously hurt in the accident near the Derry's Cross roundabout.

Traffic, including buses has been diverted.

Royal Parade is closed and traffic is queuing on Exeter Street and Bretonside.

Buses are being diverted along Notte Street.

A spokesman for South West Ambulance Trust said one man in his 20s was taken to Derriford Hospital with a suspected head injury.

    “people are still so stupid to think that it is ok to just do what they like at this crossing...sorry but if im driving along royal parade and some prat walks out in front of me because they cant wait 60 seconds for lights to change or just dont use the crossing and walk across the road and they get hit then tough...own fault for being a prat and thinking you have the right of way.”
