Peeping tom caught by his own secret camera
A peeping tom who set up a secret camera in a shared bathroom was caught out – because he filmed himself installing it.
Jonathan Wilberforce Howard admitted voyeurism for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification to watch another person do a private act at the house in Exeter, Devon, in September 2012.
Prosecutor Karen Ball said a woman living at the shared property spotted an object which looked like half a pen on the floor in the bathroom – but it had a USB connection. It had been pointed towards the shower and loo.
Exeter magistrates heard they downloaded two videos lasting around an hour before handing it to the landlord who passed it on to the police.

The video showed 48-year-old Howard setting up the camera and he was arrested in December 2012 and told police: ”It was a stupid p****d up moment.”
It also showed him showering in the bathroom and the landlord identified Howard – and then evicted him.
The video also showed the woman who had discovered it in the shower and she was very distressed and in tears and left the house and moved away.
Vanessa Francis, defending, said: ”He has put something in the house to spy on someone.”
The court was told it was a "worrying offence" but that the images were not sent to anyone else.
The court bailed Howard and to be sentenced next month.
