ARGYLE gave a trial to Birmingham City goalkeeper Colin Doyle in their pre-season friendly fixture with Hereford United last night.

Ireland international Doyle, 25, kept a clean sheet for 90 minutes he played for Peter Reid's visitors at Edgar Street.

Pilgrims' manager Reid has made no secret of his ambitions to add a second shot-stopper to add cover and competition for number one Romain Larrieu.

Reid has also given Bermuda international Freddie Hall a start in other pre-season matches.

The Pilgrims won the match 1-0 thanks to a second half strike by Steve MacLean.
