Plane with 34 passengers forced to turn back after engine fault
The pilot of an aeroplane carrying 34 passengers had to turn off an engine before making an emergency landing after the aircraft developed a technical fault in mid-air.
The Exeter-based Flybe's flight from Southampton to Jersey had to turn back to the Hampshire airport yesterday morning, after the problem was spotted.

The Bombardier Q400 aircraft, operating flight BE229, was met by the airport's emergency crews as it made the landing safely at about 8.50am.
After disembarking, passengers were able to join another flight to Jersey.

A Flybe spokesman said: "Flybe can confirm that flight BE229 from Southampton to Jersey landed safely at Southampton airport after returning from airborne following a technical fault that resulted in the captain electing to shut down the number two engine as a safety precaution.
"Flybe regrets any inconvenience experienced by passengers but as always the safety of our passengers and crew remains the airline's number one priority."
