Plymouth Albion bring in new lock on loan deal
PLYMOUTH Albion have signed lock Will Carrick-Smith on loan.
The 20-year-old, 6ft 10in forward is on Exeter Chiefs' books but they loaned him to Taunton at the start of the season and the Somerset club have in turn lent him to Albion.
Carrick-Smith will start for Albion in tomorrow's British & Irish Cup match at Rotherham.
Clubs are allowed to dual-sign players from level four clubs or below just for the cup, but Saumi says that is not the case with Carrick-Smith.

Saumi says Albion are looking at possibly using the lock during the international window next month when the club are expected to lose Canadians Brett Beukeboom and Aaron Carpenter and some of their dual registered players.
"Carrick-Smith has come in on loan," said Saumi.
"We are trying to use him as we are looking ahead to the international window, where we might lose Brett (Beukeboom).
"We are looking to use him as much as we can.
"We have not set a length of time (for the loan). I am using him now ready for the international window."
Saumi insisted Carrick-Smith's loan was from Taunton and not Exeter, who he played for in the A League last Monday.
"Exeter have given him to Taunton," said Saumi. "He is registered with Taunton and they are loaning him to us."
Taunton are allowing Albion to use their fly-half Freddie Gabbitass this weekend in the cup.
That deal is just for the British & Irish Cup.
Gabbitass will join Carrick-Smith in Albion's starting line-up tomorrow.
There will also be an Albion debut at Clifton Lane for Saltash youngster Sam Jones.
