Plymouth Argyle's Stephane Zubar suffers penalty woe
PLYMOUTH Argyle central defender Stephane Zubar had a taste of international football on Saturday – and conceded a crucial penalty as Guadeloupe were beaten 1-0 by Canada in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in Tampa, Florida.
Zubar, (pictured above, right), did not feature in Guadeloupe's first fixture at the tournament – the region's equivalent of the European Championship – but, after missing last week's 3-2 defeat to Panama, he was picked to start against the Canadians.
The game started disastrously for Guadeloupe when Zubar's fellow defender Jean-Luc Lambourde was sent off in the fourth minute. The islanders packed their defence from then on, but their rearguard was eventually breached.
Canada's only goal arrived six minutes into the second half, when Ali Gerba went down in the penalty area after Zubar had grabbed his shirt. Dwayne De Rosario converted the spot-kick to give the Canadians their win.

Guadeloupe's third and final group-stage fixture will take place in Kansas City tomorrow when they take on the United States, who were surprisingly beaten 2-1 by Group C leaders Panama on Saturday.
