The group of second-year students was made up of those studying for level two diplomas in bricklaying, plastering, and wall tiling.
David Mallett, tutor and assessor liaison manager for Construction Training South West said: "I set up the visit to give our students a taste of what working on a building site is like and to ease the shock of a first day of employment.
"The students are being trained at our well-equipped centre by experienced tutors.
"The tour was an eye opener for students and we couldn't have chosen a better site to visit – it is so well run in all aspects of health and safety.
"Barratt's has said they would give all the help they can to the centre and to the students to try to get work experience placements which may lead to apprenticeships.
"We are really grateful to Barratt's and indeed all of the other major contractors who have helped to get this young generation into the work place."
