Plymouth comedy club 'unlikely to open'
A top brand comedy club is now unlikely to open in Plymouth, The Herald has learned.
Last October Luminar – which was operating Coxside’s Oceana nightclub – announced plans to open up a Jongleurs club at the venue.
But the firm went into administration with debts of £140million.
Despite recently being bought out by three leisure industry specialists, a spokesman has revealed there are “no current plans” for Jongleurs to open in Plymouth.
The club was originally due to open at the Oceana site in “early 2012”.
Stephen Lynn, spokesman for the company, said: “The business has new owners and as such they have no current plans to open Jongleurs in Plymouth.”
Jongleurs boasts 20 clubs across the UK.
Michael McIntyre, Lee Evans, Graham Norton, Eddie Izzard, Harry Enfield, Russell Brand, Dara O’Briain, Russell Howard, Frank Skinner, Frankie Boyle and hundreds more all began their careers at Jongleurs clubs across the country.
