Plymouth drivers warned of black ice
MOTORISTS are being warned to expect black ice along a country lane used as a "rat run" by commuters.
A woman was taken to hospital by ambulance yesterday morning after her car overturned on the minor road between Tamerton Foliot and Roborough.
She was not seriously hurt but suffered a suspected shoulder injury after her vehicle skidded on black ice and came to a rest on its side at around 9am.
The accident closed Roborough Lane and Soper Hill as paramedics and two crews of firefighters from Crownhill and Camels Head went to the scene.
One fire crew member warned motorists to take extra care along the stretch, with temperatures set to remain low.
Water left on the road from last week's flooding was freezing and turning into black ice, he said.
