Plymouth lifeboat called to help injured captain of ship

The captain of a ship anchored near Plymouth breakwater had to be rescued by Plymouth RNLI's all-weather lifeboat today.

The lifeboat was launched at 2am after the crewman, identified as the ship's captain, had fallen and injured his foot

On medical advice it was recommended the casualty be evacuated ashore.

The injured man was transferred by stretcher to the all-weather lifeboat Sybil Mullen Glover.
