Plymouth primary school shut down over drain problem
Widewell Primary School has been closed and all children sent home after problems with the drainage in the toilets.
The school closed at 11am today. Plymouth City Council tonight confirmed that the school will remain closed tomorrow (Tuesday) and is set to reopen on Wednesday.
Parents are asked to keep an eye on the school’s website www.widewell.eschools.co.uk, which will be updated regularly with progress and school opening arrangements.
Head teacher, Barbara Young, said: “We are very sorry for the inconvenience this will cause parents in particular and will work very hard to ensure the problem is fixed quickly. We haven’t taken this decision lightly but we must close the school for health and safety reasons. I’d ask parents to stay in touch by checking on the website for updates.”
Widewell Primary School closure information will also be posted on Plymouth City Council’s school closure website at www.plymouth.gov.uk/schoolclosures
