A police car believed to be responding to an emergency collided with a motorist in Devon.

It is unclear whether anyone was injured when the patrol car was in collision with a red Peugeot shortly before 1pm yesterday at the Barnhenge roundabout, in Barnstaple.

Both cars were damaged and ambulances were called to the scene, but it is not known if anyone was seriously hurt.

One driver was reported as saying the police car had passed him moments before with blue lights on but the man could not recall if sirens were sounding.
