Police investigate death of woman at care home
Police have launched an investigation after a woman in her 50s was found dead at a care home in Devon.
Officers were called to Silverleigh care home in Axminster, East Devon at just before 8am yesterday after reports of a sudden death.
A spokeswoman for Devon and Cornwall Police said the death was currently being treated as "unexplained" and an investigation was under way.
It is understood the woman, who has not been named, was found in her bedroom. Emergency responders from the fire service were first at the scene, followed by paramedics and the police.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that CID officers have secured the scene and that members of staff at the care home were being interviewed.
The woman's family have been informed and a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out in the next few days.
"Police were called to a care home in Silver Street, Axminster just before 8am today after reports of a sudden death," the spokesman said.
"A woman in her 50s was pronounced deceased at the address.
"The death is being treated as unexplained and investigations are on-going."
