BASKETBALL: Plymouth Raiders have added Polish centre Michal Czynienik to their 2010/11 roster.

The 6ft 8in 28-year-old warmed Raiders' bench last season and only figured fleetingly in four of the club's 36 BBL Championship contests.

was the only part-time player on Raiders' roster last season and also a postman.

Raiders coach Gavin Love, whose players reported back for pre-season training on Monday, said: "Michal has been fantastic so far. He has changed jobs since last season and that will free him up more to concentrate on basketball.

"Last year he would turn up to training tired from his day job. This year, I can tell already he's a lot fresher at training."

Love added: "This is an opportunity Michal wanted and fully deserves. He worked really hard over the summer and so far has been great in practice."

Czynienik graduated to Raiders' BBL squad after joining the club's second team in 2008/09.

Love said: "Michal is going to get court-time at centre and the power-forward position. He's strong and has acquitted himself well so far.

"I like what he offers us: hard work; someone who isn't afraid to get involved physically inside; and someone who can rebound the ball.

"His willingness to work hard and improve really impresses me."
