Print firm confirms talks over 64 redundancies at regional facility
More than half of the workforce at a Bodmin book and magazine printing company are facing redundancy, with the business set to shut down its lithographic operations at the site.
MPG Books Ltd will be closing its lithographic facility at the end of December, with the loss of 64 jobs. The business will maintain a workforce to continue its digital print operations.
Earlier this year, the company, which currently employs 130 people in Bodmin, acquired Cambridge University Press, creating a £28 million turnover business. Its litho operations are to be consolidated in Cambridge.
A spokeswoman for the company confirmed: "The litho operation at MPG Books Ltd, Bodmin, will be shutting down with effect from December 31. All operations at the facility in Suffolk will close at the same time."
